One of the biggest nights of boxing in Birmingham history takes place Saturday, May 6th at the Resorts World Arena when BOXXER makes its first visit to the UK’s second city for an event airing live on Sky Sports.
Undefeated light-heavyweight contender Joshua Buatsi headlines in a showdown with undefeated Polish rival Pawel Stepien - someone’s ‘0’ has got to go and if Buatsi wins, he maintains his #1 spot in the WBA rankings and steps forward for a world title shot.
In the chief support bout, Birmingham’s own Tyler Denny - the reigning English middleweight champion - is set to face the toughest challenge of his career to date in a big step up which will open world-stage opportunities for him if he wins.
He’s supported by an undercard packed with Birmingham’s best boxing talent - including Shakan Pitters, Cori Gibbs and Kaisee Benjamin - and a massive talent from the Midlands: Olympic 2020 silver medallist Ben Whittaker, one of the hottest new properties in boxing today.
Whittaker’s fellow 2020 Team GB Olympic medallist Lauren Price MBE (3-0, 1 KO) – the nation’s most decorated amateur fighter of all-time, prior to turning pro – is also confirmed for the card.
